Ever wonder why some wines pair beautifully with certain foods while others just… don’t? Or how the right pairing can completely change the way both the wine and the food taste?
Join us on Saturday, November 14th from 11 AM–2 PM at our Woodinville Warehouse District location as we kick off Wine 101, a new educational series designed to take some of the mystery out of wine and help you sip, taste, and explore with more confidence.
For our first class in the series, we’re diving into the art of food and wine pairing. Through guided tastings and thoughtfully selected bites, you’ll explore how elements like acidity, sweetness, richness, and flavor interact, and learn simple principles you can use when choosing wine for everything from a weeknight dinner to a special occasion.
The class will be hosted by our Wine Club Manager and wine educator, Michelle Vaughters, alongside owner and winemaker John Patterson.
Michelle brings more than 10 years of experience in the wine industry and holds the WSET Level 3 Award in Wines with Distinction. From working as a Cellar Door Hand in New Zealand to her role here at Patterson Cellars, Michelle brings a broad understanding of winemaking, varietals, regions, and food pairing, along with a passion for making wine education approachable and fun.
Throughout the afternoon, Michelle and John will guide you through a selection of Patterson wines and food pairings, sharing the why behind each pairing and giving you practical tips you can take home and use the next time you’re choosing a bottle for the table.
Whether you’re just beginning to explore wine or simply want to better understand what works together and why, Wine 101 is all about learning by tasting.
YOU’LL LEARN:
